Anthony John Earthy

30th October 1941 – 26th September 2008

It was with heavy hearts that Members of the Band formed a Guard of Honour at the funeral service of their founder and original Bandmaster Tony Earthy. The hearse carrying Tony was preceded by Royal British Legion Standard and The Redhill Corps of Drums Colours escorted by Captain Wendy Martin and Captain Ralph Goard.

The service was well attended with ex-members from both the Redhill Corps of Drums and The Church Lads & Church Girls Brigade present.

It has to put on record that without Tony’s foresight the Redhill Corps of Drums would have never started. It was his determination to start the Redhill Corps of Drums that led to many youngsters learning to play a musical instrument and to become part of a group of players that in turn led to public performances throughout the UK and Europe.

Tony will be sorely missed, no longer will we hear his dulcet tones in Germany asking ‘which one of you ******** bombed my chip shop?’
